The Eucharist is the very Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of the Lord Jesus. It is the sum and summary of our faith, since in the Eucharist is found Christ himself, offered to us as a pledge of our salvation. The Eucharist is the source of great graces that sanctify the faithful and help us grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ. In sharing in the heavenly banquet feast prepared by Christ, we unite ourselves to disciples throughout the world.
At St. James, First Communion is celebrated at our regularly scheduled weekend Masses during the first two weekends in May. Families reserve the day and Mass time that best suits them in advance. Typically, St. James has between five and ten first communicants at each of the designated Masses. First communicants are part of the Opening Procession and bring up the Offertory Gifts. Children sit with their family in reserved seating and receive Communion as a family.
See our Religious Education for Children page for more information.
If you are a Catholic or Christian adult wishing to be fully initiated into the Catholic faith and complete the Sacraments of Initiation, see our Becoming Catholic - (RCIA) page.
